SYSTEM INSTALLATIONS
Although North Coasts Signal carries traditional wired alarm systems, we specialize in wireless fire and intrusion alarm systems. NCS has a full line of wireless devices. Smoke detectors, heat detectors, motion detectors, door & window contacts, and more.
What is the benefit of a wireless system?
Wireless systems eliminate the need for exposed conduit or holes in your ceilings and walls. We don't need to pull wire to each device reducing the cost of materials and labor hours saving you money. It is also less disruptive to your business. The batteries in the wireless devices are good for up to 5 years.
This wire system is approved by the California State Fire Marshal for fire alarm in commercial buildings.
Benefits of using a wireless system- We install Honeywell systems, a major brand name.
- Less invasive to existing structures
- Basically, the only wire needed is for AC power and phone lines
- Reduced cost of materials
- Reduced labor hours
- You and your customers will hardly know we are there during installation.
- Batteries in the devices are good for up to five years

Can North Coast Signal service all fire alarm systems?
NCS can service the majority of fire alarm systems. All fire alarm systems are basically the same, they just look different at the Fire Alarm Panel. Our only limitation is programming or procuring parts for proprietary systems. Even with proprietary systems, NCS can repair wire problems, ground faults, and replace horns or strobes. In many cases, only the Fire Alarm Panel is proprietary and we can repair anything connected to the panel.

RECURRING TESTING & INSPECTIONS
What code governs fire alarm system inspections?
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) sets national fire alarm codes and standards.NFPA 72, 2002 Edition details the standards for testing, maintenance and inspection. California has adopted this code into the California Fire Code.
How often do I need to have my fire alarm system tested?
Basically, most devices need to be tested once a year. Batteries and connections to a sprinkler system must be tested twice a year.
The owners manual that came with our smoke detector says I should press the test button, does this meet the code requirement?
No, this test only tells you if there is power at the smoke detector and if the siren works. It does not test the smoke sensor. NCS conducts functional tests (with a smoke listed aerosol) that meets the requirements of NFPA 72.
- Meeting code requirements
- Peace of mind
- Most repairs can be completed during the test
- Reduced liability
